Rethinking Workforce Management with UniFocus

What’s next for how the industry gets works done? 

The hotel industry is going through a paradigm shift right now. COVID has changed this industry forever and customer expectations, employee expectations and investor expectations have all changed. For example, in many countries, the number of employees in the industry has declined and will probably continue to decline. Yet, with wealthier, more demanding guests, service delivery will be the key differentiator and without enough people, technology will become critical to service delivery. When I say service delivery I mean everything from a well maintained hotel to efficient and quick guest service, anticipating guest needs, and superlative housekeeping and food and beverage services. A hotel with technology powering its housekeeping operations, for example, will be able to provide a higher quality service to its guests at a far lower cost than a competitor without such technology. In our case, this power is not only the power of the best housekeeping optimization system in the industry but also the power of combining it with Unifocus’ best in class suite of staff forecasting and management software products.

Organic growth worked great for us, but it has its limits. 

As I looked at our roadmap and the BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) we set for ourselves, it felt like we had only two choices – raise money and/or partner with another company to have the product portfolio, management and technological capabilities, and financial strength.

Why UniFocus? 

The roadmap was taking us in a direction of a full workforce optimization and operational optimization platform. And workforce management is the bread and butter of UniFocus. We are already working towards the same vision, but starting from different, complementary areas. 

Their strengths round out ours. They have the quality of product and support that immediately stood out as a partner we can trust, not just to deliver our technology to our growing customer base in the Americas and to expand on our strong presence in the Asia Pacific region, Middle East and Europe, but also to build elegant solutions with. 

The opportunities from the combined efforts and shared expertise seem endless.

How are we going to tackle operational optimization and workforce management together? 

Knowcross is prepared to cater to the needs of the industry and taking housekeeping (and other functions) to the next level. To go from “what is housekeeping software” to “how clever can it be?” 

But with UniFocus, we are looking bigger. How can our combined technologies help the industry work smarter? Make managers better decision makers, serve hotel staff better and help them serve their customers better.

When I look around at the industry, it seems that, until now, no one has the forward-looking voice. No one has anyone taken the lead on how to get hotels back in business after COVID. Not anymore!
